Hello Lancer Family:
I have talked with our AD and we are both in agreement of canceling the remainder of open gyms.
The number of Covid cases are on the rise and rather than being reactive, I am being proactive on that basis. Whether or not you believe this is a big deal is none of my concern, but the reality is that Covid in our area isn't getting any better.
I have stretched what we do in our open gym as far as guidelines set forth by the school district. So in other words if a health official wanted to come in and see what was going on, I am held responsible for what is happening, not anyone else. What we do in open gyms is not far from a couple of athletes getting together and doing the same thing at home.
Yes I do coach for another club, but high school and club are two different entities. One is privately controlled and the other is controlled by Washoe County School District. One is my responsibility as the other one is not. Protocols are different between these two groups as they are governed by different groups.
Yes, you may have a choice on what your kid partakes in, I have an obligation to do what I believe is best for My program and I speak for McQueen High School Volleyball, not anywhere else.
Best wishes,
Coach Braysen
To the Athletes:
Your grades now will impact whether or not you can try out. Please Please Please get caught up on all school work, talk to tutors, talk with teachers, so that your grades are good when tryouts come. You cannot tryout if your grades now are in danger of failing, so get those up ASAP. Student first Athlete second.
Make sure you guys are all registered with RMA and have all tasks check off BEFORE tryouts, I do not want to have to be the one to tell your kid she cannot try out because of missing documents. Get all of that done ASAP!!!!!!!
Again any questions you may email me:
